Childrens story Time

We have a special Children's Story Time in the Library every Monday at 10am. Bookings are a must as there is limited space and some stories have craft time to go with them. How exciting is that but so that we have enough for all who come and no unexpected surprises please let us know if you would like to bring your children. Children must be aged over 2 and under 5 to attend.
The story for this week is "A Bugs Life" We will be making caterpillar book marks to take home with you.

Just for the Seniors

Special Morning tea for the Senior Library clients on Tuesday Mornings at 10am with a guest speaker from your local community. This weeks speaker is John Wrigley and he is speaking on native plants in the Brookdale area. Please register your interest with Judith at the front counter or ring the library on 9527 7731 for catering purposes. She will have her book on display for all to see.

Occupational health and safety in the Library while using Multimedia equipment

Mary was using a data projector in the library this week and got a nasty shock from it when she plugged it in, she forgot to check the plug to make sure that it was safe to use. She is a little frazzled but otherwise unhurt. She will in future check all equipment before she plugs it in.

Remember to check equipment before you use it. Some general precautions you should take are:
  1. Inspect equipment before you use it to make sure its in good working order.
  2. If an appliance is broken make sure that it is put in for repairs as soon as possible.
  3. Keep all equipment away from wet areas and water.
  4. Never pull out the plug when the power is turned on.
  5. Use a power board rather than double adaptors as they can over load the circuits.
  6. If you have a broken power point or cord have it replaced by a licensed electrician.
  7. Keep those electric cords off the floor so nobody can trip over them.
  8. Always know the location of the electrical supply or fuse box in case you need to tend to something.
